The problem

Sound familiar?

Water on the floor near the foundation wall in a basement
Water in the basement after every heavy rain or thaw.
Crack and white efflorescence on a concrete foundation wall
Cracks, or white stains (efflorescence) that keep coming back on the walls.
Mold in the corner of a damp basement wall
A musty smell that returns no matter how much you ventilate.
Soaked lawn and puddles along a foundation, with a downspout
The lawn that stays soaked along the building.
Sump pump pit with water in a basement
The sump pump running non-stop — and your boxes up on pallets.

Water doesn't stop on its own: it rots wood, feeds mold and quietly drops your resale value. The longer you wait, the harder the foundation works.

Why it keeps coming back

Sealing from the inside only hides the symptom.

The drain around your foundation is meant to carry groundwater away. Clogged or crushed, water sits against the wall and finds every crack. The only real fix is outside, at the source:

01We identify the cause: slope, water outlets, signs in the basement.02We excavate while protecting access, steps and landscaping.03We clean the foundation to bare concrete and treat cracks before covering.04We apply the waterproofing membrane.05We install the new drain: clean stone, geotextile, laser-checked slope.06We backfill in layers with a positive slope that moves water away.

Before / after

The real proof is the next heavy rain.

After

Why A1

A drain built to last decades — not just past the warranty.

Installed right — clean stone, geotextile, positive slope — a drain lasts decades. The ones that fail early were almost always laid without geotextile or with insufficient slope.

Straight talk

Why we don't give a firm price over the phone

A visual inspection isn't enough: we often need to expose a section to see the real condition of the drain and foundation. We'd rather give you a real price from your photos than a phone number we'd have to correct once the shovel is in the ground. That's what protects everyone.

Your 3 options

One clear request. Three ways to move forward.

Priority

What's urgent

Localized repair of the section that leaks. We stop the water, period.

Complete

While we're digging

We use the machinery already on site: a new concrete driveway and yard regrading so the whole yard drains the right way. One excavation, two wins — dry basement and a frontage that gains value.

Frequently asked

Before you send your photos

How long does a French drain last?

Installed right — clean stone, geotextile, positive slope, clear outlet — it lasts decades. The ones that fail early were almost always laid without geotextile or with insufficient slope.

Can the work be done in winter?

As long as the ground is frozen, no — the season runs mid-April to mid-November in Montreal. If you have active infiltration in winter, we can do a temporary interior patch and replace the drain as soon as the ground thaws.

Localized repair or full replacement?

We often need to expose a section to see the real condition. That's why we give 3 prices: Priority (localized repair), Recommended (full replacement) and Complete (while we're digging, we add the concrete driveway and regrading).

Will my landscaping be damaged?

We only excavate the strip needed along the foundation. Nearby shrubs are identified and protected or transplanted. Cut grass doesn't replant — plan for sod to be redone after the work.
